For a century and a half, London was the capital of an empire that spanned 40% of the inhabited world, leaving behind a cultural and institutional legacy that serves as a model for modern democracy. It is an incredibly diverse city, home to people from various cultures and nationalities. This diversity is evident in its food, music, festivals, and daily life. Despite being a bustling metropolis, London boasts beautiful parks such as Hyde Park, Regent's Park, and Greenwich Park, providing a peaceful escape from urban life. It is a multicultural city with a wide range of ethnic communities and a vibrant cultural scene. From theaters in the West End to a diverse gastronomic offering and an influential music scene, London is known for its cultural diversity. It houses some of the world's most famous museums, such as the British Museum, the National Gallery, and the Tate Modern. These museums exhibit a wide range of art, from antiquities to modern and contemporary art. Moreover, the city is marked by its impressive architecture, blending historic buildings with modern iconic structures such as the London Eye, the Shard, and the Gherkin. Each area of London has its own personality and charm, making exploration an exciting and diverse experience. It's a city that has something for everyone, and as Dr. Samuel Johnson said in the 1700s: "He who is tired of London is tired of life." This is perhaps even more valid today than it was back then. Tip: Don't miss the opportunity to attend a play, especially a musical.
After breakfast, you will head to the meeting point to begin experiencing the incredible Warner Bros Studio Tour London: The Making of Harry Potter. You will discover the impressive sets, immense craftsmanship, and talent that went into creating the iconic films. The adventure in the magical world begins where Harry's did: under the stairs cupboard. After an introductory video featuring some of your favorite characters, we will enter the Great Hall, where you will see the authentic costumes and wigs worn by the prominent cast members. Other iconic sets include Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. The Hogwarts Express is the backdrop for the first scene ever filmed for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and ten years later, for the final scene of the entire saga in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. At the Studio Tour, you can see the model of Hogwarts Castle. The first version of the castle was built by a team of 86 artists and crew members. More than 2,500 fiber optic lights were installed to flicker and give the illusion of students moving through the hallways. The art department also created textbooks for potions classes, admission letters, candy wrappers, and over 40 newspaper editions, The Daily Prophet. Did you know that many of the special effects in the movies were real? Although it may seem like a visual effect, the Chamber of Secrets door is a fully functional door, just like the incredibly intricate door at Gringotts Bank. You will also have the opportunity to ride a broomstick and play the magical sport of Quidditch. Tip: Before leaving, enjoy a frothy butterbeer just like Harry, Ron, and Hermione would at the Leaky Cauldron.
